    C3 68-69 WHEEL PAINT CHOICES

OK, Hang the wheel from the valve stem opening and paint the inside semi flat black and the face and backside silver. What is the best brand and color to use and any techniques on obtaining the pale-greenish hue?

Set it flat and only paint the face. Dupont has a formula, at least they used to.

      Paul:
Get the formula from Dupont and take it to your local paint supplier who can put it into spray cans. Have the supplier add a few drops of a medium green tint to the formula and you will have a perfect match to "Argent silver with greenish tint". I did this for my '69 and it looks right on. Hope this helps.

I used the argent silver green spray available from OEM paints on my 69. Looks great.

I was surprised in the judging manual that the wheel was semi flat black. Suppose that could just be purchased at a hardware store also then, otherwise an all silver wheel would have a deduction. Thanks for the choices provided.

I have a set of what I believe is the original wheels on my '68 and the backside is not a straight semi-gloss black. All wheels, including the spare, are painted a black that has a slight metallic finish. I obviously have no idea how the gloss/semi/flatness may have changed due to aging, but there is a metallic-ness to the paint on the back side.

I believe the metallic you are seeing is overspray from painting the front side.
