    1966 Vinyl Green Seat Match

I am trying to find the correct dark "mottled" green vinyl seat covers unique to 66 Corvettes. Al Knock and Corvette America both sent me a samples and they both appear as a plain dark green instead of the original multi shaded look. Has anyone found a supplier with the correct color ?

Pete:mottled hue of a 66 green vinyl interior is new to me but i've been accused of being in right field more than once. what i can attest to is that i have two sets of original 67 seat vinyl covers and they are not mottled. also have judged a few 66 vettes and don't recall any mottled interior colors(i usually did mechanical 1 when i was 66 team leader). anyway, would be interested in learning more about mottling green vinyl. regards, mike

"The reason for my hunt for correct covers is my decision to place my original seats in storage because they are too nice to incur wear"

So your going to put them away till when?

Gezz it sounds like you have a very nice original car, drive it like it is.

From the above posts I don't think your going to find anything to match your original unless your willing to have just two sets of covers special made.

The idea of saving original parts for some day just doesn't make sense to me, your car should wear evenly, sorry I don't get it.

Pete: whyn not bring the car to a regional and let the 66 team leader and his team have a look atht e interior. May well have bowtie potential. If you wanna preserve the orig seats , why not just order a set of al knock covers and use the car. good luck, mike...btw, the 66 coupe dickie w. had was also a mosport/ green int. mike

Thanks Mike - I checked with Al Knock and the sample they sent was not close enough so I will keep checking a few more sources. I had the car out at a local event and it went Top Flight fist time out which was very gratifying. In fact the judges used the car to train some of the other judges on what a real side pipe car looked like and pointed out many of the original features of the car.

If it's that original, then try for the Bowtie Award as Mike suggests.
See my Bowtie contender below. It received its 3rd Top Flight at Hershey, and is vying for a Bowtie in Windsor.

Peter, from my experience, Knoch covers are by far the best. In fact, some of the other "name" covers are made by Knoch and re-boxed/re-labeled

In addition, he may need to call and talk with Al himself.
i know that many of us have found that to be helpful. I'd bet Al would be happy to make a set of seat covers that matched his original green ones.

Of course, I'd have Al make them in leather but in the correct color. But that's just me. Having seen a few sets of Al's custom leather covers I'm a fan.
