The temp sender in the '62 327-340 is going south, it measures several thousand ohms at room temp. The wiring and gauge are good, pegging the needle when shorted to the block. I tried to remove the old sender and really cranked on it with a 9-10" long wrench (7/8"? 15/16" or so) to no avail. I'm afraid to mung it up further, so I sprayed it with PB blaster and will try to hit it with a deep socket tonight. Is there any risk of shearing the whole darn sensor? Thanks, and please forgive the dumb newbie questions. There are going to be a lot of them....

Re: Aluminum + Brass = Seized temp sender? ('62-34
most ac temp sending units are seized to the intake manifold.. i've removed many, with a breaker bar on as shallow a socket as will fit. Using a very tall or deep well increases the chance of the socket breaking way and rounding off, to an extent, the hex sides of the sending unit.I've never sheared the sending unit nor ever stripped the aluminum threads.give her hell! aand good luck. mike- Top

And he probably still uses a liquor soaked rag for painless surgery. Genleman Jack maybe? Probably has never heard of NOS or things like that to lessen the pain. What a throw back to the dark ages.Dick Whittington- Top
