    1966 327/350 intake bolts

    Hi,

On our 66, we are trying to determine the "correct" bolts used for our intake. I see both black and zinc in the Paragon catalog, and I notice the same in Dobbins' book.

Does anyone know which is most common? I'm puzzled that GM would use black bolts to hold on an aluminum (silver) intake.

    Thanks,

Some black bolts are used on 1970-71 LT1 intake manifold, but that is Flint. I would be surprised if Tonawanda was more fashion conscious.

      Pat,
The "M" bolt is most common. The aluminum intakes are generally sprayed silver over bolts and along edge of intake runners to cover up any orange overspray. So typical to not see the black finish of the actual bolts.

Black phosphate bolts - have never seen zinc-plated intake bolts on an original midyear small-block.

Black phosphate, mostly covered with silver paint.
