    65 wheel stamping

Where are the ID stampings on a 65 wheel located. Inside or on the outside of the tire. Thanks!

    Re: 65 wheel stamping

Dick - Original '65 and '66 production year Corvette steel wheels should have the following information stamped on the inside of the wheel: 15X51/2JK along with a month (1 -12) and year (last two digits of the year, 64, 65, or 66. All 3 appear to be separate stampings. In additional, you'll find a Kelsey-Hayes manufactures stamp and another stamp indicating that the wheel meets some societies performance specification, also on the inside. On the outer front face GM should be stamped on one of the webs by the lug bolt holes. Please note that not all of the stampings mentioned are readily/easily observed because of (1) a light stamping or (2) because that specific stamping operation just wasn't performed or whatever.
