'67 BIG BLOCK HEAD BOLT TORQUE

The chassis service manual and two other engine rebuild manuals I have call for 80ft lbs on all the cylinder head bolts on big blocks. I have another book that calls for 65 for the short bolts, and 75 for the long, which I believe is correct for only aluminum heads. Can someone confirm the proper torque and whether it is different for the short and long bolts?

    Rob -

The Chassis Overhaul Manual torque specs show 80 ft-lbs. for all bolts on iron heads; the aluminum heads show 75 for the long bolts and 65 for the short bolts.

that is only true if you are using GM head bolts as other bolt manufactures may have different specs.
