What is your preference? Wear is not a major consideration as I only put on about 1,500 mile per year. I have leather at the moment but I am redoing the sets to include head rests. Would appreciate your thoughts. What are the advantages/disadvantages one to the other?
Vinyl or Leather for 1967 Seat Covers?

NCRS means restoring, not modifying
While it is your car and you can do what you want, you have to remember that this is the National Corvette RESTORERS Society and as such the only goal is to return the cars to the form as they came from the factory.
So while I would opt for leather as they are cooler in summer, warmer in winter, and more comfortable overall, your trim tag says vinyl and that is what the correct answer here should be.- Top

In '67, if you ordered leather seat covers and headrests as options, the headrests would only be in vinyl. PT- Top

Re: Vinyl or Leather for 1967 Seat Covers?
Leather is more durable and comfortable. Looks nicer, too. As with most things that are better, it costs more. It's your car. If your goal is NCRS max judging points, by all means stick with vinyl. If you bought the car to drive and use, put whatever you like in it. If the trim tag bothers you, change it. People change the numbers on everything else to create matching numbers cars. That comment will elicit more bile from the faithful, but it is an everyday fact of this hobby.

Re: NCRS means restoring, not modifying
Like Ed said , change your Corvette to what ever you like to meet FACTORY standers , you wont be the first or last person to do so. It's so easy to get what ever verification or tags you need. Not many people make up a base Corvette mouse car having no options.- Top

have your Cake and East it too.
Paul,
Why not make this set in leather, but purchase a second set and cover them in vinyl to use if you want it judged? That way you have both, and with saddle you can always save the leathers for another car.
I have a friend with a Goodwood Green 67 400 horse car, green interior, white stripe and top. His second seat set for driving is white leather. Never an option, but VERY nice looking.

Although not correct for your car, you'll enjoy the leather. It keeps a nice smell in the interior and are more comfortable, as well as looking better than vinyl. It's an easy item to return to original and match your trim tag, so do what you like and enjoy them.- Top

Re: Vinyl or Leather for 1967 Seat Covers?
I have decided to go with vinyl this summer, the same material as found on the new head rests and of course the trim tag. If they are not to my liking I can go back to leather next winter. I drive about 1,000 miles per year so wear should no be a problem.- Top

Re: NCRS means restoring, not modifying
The car is exceptionally clean and I keep it as close to original as possible. But it suffers from a severe handicap that precludes me from ever submitting it to NCRS judging. The engine is 327/300 but is not original to the car. So while I enjoy NCRS activities and objectives, I am basically just a spectator.Attached Files- Top

Here are my new '67 vinyl seats...
from Al Knoch, the tank sticker calls for Standard Black interior, so no leather. They came out quite nice. PT
