    66 power brake bleeding

Does anyone know if there is an inexpensive brake bleeder out there that will fit the master cylinder on a 66 power brake car? When my buddy and I were manually bleeding my 66 today, the volume of fluid coming out of the calipers was really low and we were never able to completly flush the system. It's been a long time since I've bled brakes, but I seem to remember getting a pretty good squirt from them. Am hoping that a good bleeding will hopefully remedy the car pulling to the left.
    Any suggestions appreciated!

I have a '65 with PB, I had the same problem. Go to motiveproducts.com and get a bleeder. Be sure and get the right one for your car. It worked like a charm, I only had to bleed them once and I had great brakes. Hope this helps.

      Jeremy,
I was on the Motive site before posting my question last night and the earliest their catlog shows is 67. I have an email into them and will see what they what they have to say.

There is (was) a bleeding adapter made for this master cylinder. I have one. I remember buying it in the Seventies at a NAPA auto parts store. I believe it was made by K.D. but I won't be home to look at it for a week or so. It has a large thread and a small thread (stacked), and as I recall the larger thread fits that master. It works much better than the clamp on types that always leak all over the place. If they are not still available, one could probably be made from a reproduction cap. Larry

If your car is pulling to the left and you have

old brake hoses, there is a likelyhood of collapsed rubber hoses if you haven't replaced them lately.

            66 power brake bleeding

            Hi Mike,
I put the car back on the road today even though I wasnt happy with the bleed job I did over the weekend. Guess what, it still pulls left.
I called Corvette SST Brakes and they told me the same thing about having a collapsed hose. They said the life span for a rubber hose was about 7yrs. The calipers, pads and lines were replaced about 10 yrs ago so I guess its due even though theres probably not more than a few thousand miles on it since then. Guess Im ordering new hoses.
            Thanks,
            Gary

Gary I have a 66 with power brakes and purchased the motive power bleeder for my car.the adapter fro the 67 will fit our cars NO PROBLEM when you see it you will under stand. If you want I can post a picture of the adapter here just drop me an email and I ll get it done.

The power bleeder goes down in my book as one of my greatest time saver tools.Dont tell the manufactorer of it but I would have paid double the price to have a quick and simple brake bleed with is what this tool provides.

                  66 power brake bleeding

Larry, As I mentioned in an earlier post, I sent Motive an email today about bleeders for our cars. (Jeremy recommended it as well in an earlier post). Motive recommended using adapter p/n 1101 which covers one reservoir only. I dont know if would be an advantage to this or not. I guess you could bleed the front or rear independently. At any rate it sounds like a decent product and as it turns out they're located in Berkley, CA which is only about 30 minutes from me. I also picked up a set of new front brake hoses tonight...
Thanks for your help - Gary
