Is this a real 4657 fuel pump??

Can anybody ID this pump from the picture on the auction?

What characteristics, stampings, character height/location etc should be present on the real mcCoy?

    thanks

Ask the seller to send you a photo looking at it from the top, this will help. But there are restamps around.

The number 4657 ought to be stamped in the right hand side of the mounting flange. There are a lot of different numbers that are a similar configuration. From what little I can tell from the picture, this one is the correct configuration for a 4657. Turn the bottom flange a couple of screw holes and you have a 4656, if you get the idea. There are at least half a dozen, and probably more AC pumps that share the same basic configuration.

What I'm still trying to get to the bottom of is my 4657DE (note the "DE" suffix) an acceptable pump. It has all other correct markings and looks like the rear thing. But it has the DE on it. I don't want to mess with it and make it correct.

        Any thoughts appreciated.

Tracy, if you want me to take some pics of what I have to compare, I'd be happy to send them to you tomrrow.

Don't get hung up on the stamping being

on "the right hand side of the flange" - I've seen them on all four sides - the requirement in making them would be that the flange is stamped for identification, NOT a particular location.

Still waiting for a read on the 4657 configuration

Do all 4657 fuel pumps look like the picture I posted earlier in this thread?

Re: Still waiting for a read on the 4657 configura

Tracy: The physical configuration of the pump in the photo looks to be correct. However the color of that pump has me confused. The AC pumps have a cast aluminum looking appearance to them. The pump in the photo has a brownish looking color. I doon't know if that is because it is a remanufactured pump or what. But the color did not appear correct to me. Just my opinion for what it is worth. I think I saw that the pump on Ebay went for about $125 or so. Len
