    Spy Ware or Trojan Warning

There have been two members of this board so far that have been hit with some sort of spyware or trojan program. This program ads a link to messages that they have posted on this board to porn sites, or just dubious advertising sites. Check your posts. If you see the little camera icon beside your post, and you did not include a picture then check it again. Look for some links at the bottom that you did not include. If you find something please delete that message with your password.

Please try to run either Spybot SD, http://www.safer-networking.org or Ad-aware http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware to rid your system of this and any other spy programs that you may have.

The bad guys are trying to take over the Internet.

    More, John!

These are both excellent protections, and FREEWARE. Now, with this MYDOOM worm going around, folks might need more protection.

Perhaps the best protection, other than an ANTIVIRUS program, is a FIREWALL. I installed ZoneAlarm about 2 months ago, and am very happy with it. It is FREEWARE, and can be downloaded from:

    www.zonelabs.com

PS: Anyone running KAZAA on your computer, be aware that it is loaded with spyware programs such as GATOR. These run silently, and it is very difficult to uninstall them. I had to edit the registry to do so. I no longer have KAZAA installed.

I use Adware, Spybot and I also use a hardware firewall. D-Link makes a router with a built in firewall for under $50.

Re: Spy Ware or Trojan Warning

It seems that neither Spybot nor Ad Aware (or Norton, Mcafee, etc, etc) are successful in rooting out this particular piece of software. A friend in Texas has it on his machine and we've yet to find a fix.

Anybody have more info on this subject?

Are you running Norton Anti-Virus? If so you can contact them thru their website with the problem and they will answer usually within 24 hours. Been there done that, they are really pretty good and really on top of such things.
