    Larry,

There were 3788 with A/C and 2101 with 400HP but I know of no statistics that combine the two options. Wish I knew, as I have one of those creatures.

    Regards,

    JR

Re: Addendum to A/C and L68

      Larry,

According to Nolan Adams book there were 199 Converts and 325 Coupes with that combination. Total according to the "Restoration Guide" is 3,788.

      Regards,

      JR

JR, What a rare bird!! Not to many of them around then!! Wonder how many left that were not crashed?? Where can I get Noland's book? Once back in the early 90's when I bought a L71 1969 roadster. I called 411 in PA and got his number and asked him some questions about the car. Great guy to take a call like that. Thanks for the info! Larry

Re: More now than then before (cynic)

Does NCRS keep track of the cars entered for judging to the extent that they can begin to present some numbers of 435's, 400's, 390's etc that might be compared to original numbers? Also, it seems like there has been a rumor for a while about someone coming up with original documentation from GM. Any truth to this?

even if GM finds the paperwork

will they publish because the owners with "faked cars" will sue claiming GM lowered the value of their cars.

I dont see why that would be a consideration at all. They are not responsible for the FAKES. The information for some other lines are already released and available. Just think about this. They could donate them to the museum, and count them off as a donation to a non profit organization at $50 a pop. Thats what the Cadillac museum charges. Thats a 50 million dollar tax write off. The museum could oversee the distribution, and get the moneys generated. Everybody benefits. If they are available, that ought to be enough incentive to get a man on the job.

I do not think they could sue GM. Maybe the fakers of these cars or the people/dealerships who sell cars with no documentation, BUT hype them up to be a "numbers matching" car. Lots of people get hyped-up by the sales man when they set in the seat of a big block roadster. 90 percent of these buyers are impulse buyers that look at the car in the Vette dealers showroom or private garage's and buy on the spot. This was even told to me by a sales man at Mershons in Ohio. Not many people do the home work except the people like these on this web page or clubs.

JR, Like the old saying goes: "they only made 199 roadsters wtih a/c and 400HP, of which only 1000 remain"
