Frame Dip Franchise in the Midwest

    Hello,

I'm looking for a company that can chemical dip an entire C2 frame in preparation for paint. I've been told that there is a "Ready Strip" franchise in Roseville, IL. I can not find any info via Internet seach. Anyone have an address and phone number?

    Thanks,

    James West
    Omaha, NE.

Redi-strips are all over the place. And likewise similar outfits with a different name. The one you want is the place that will watch your parts carefully and not eat them up with their stripper solutions. I've had good luck with Redi-strip in New Albany, Indiana and I've had bad luck after the management changed (same owner). There is a place in Scottsburg.Indiana that does the same work and is well recommended by all who have used it.

It all depends on who is running the show. The wrong ones can do really bad things for your parts.

If you go with Redi Strip or any alkaline or acid chem dip make sure to completely powerwash and rinse out the frame. If any residue is left behind it will eventually react with and lift any paint you use. It's difficult to rinse out out the inside channels of the frame and the hourly employees doing it probably won't take the care you would, if you did it yourself.

You may want to check into whether there is an industrial paint stripping facility near you. We have one in the greater Detroit area, (Romulus, MI) called International Paint Stripping. They do a prebake at 800 degrees which turns paint, dirt, grease, etc, to ash and then follow up with a buffered acid dip to kill rust and remove any ash residue. Two rinses and a power washing follow, then a water based rust treatment. They come out very clean and quite a bit less money than Redi Strip. On additional step you could take prior to proper prep and paint, would be to run a torch along the lap joint seams to burn off any residue that might still be present.

I had my frame dipped at Redistrip in Roselle, IL. They did an excellent job. All I did after I got it back was wash the frame with a good detergent and then painted. I would think you could find one in the Omaha area though
