    '67 400HP TIMING RECOMMENDATION

I finished breaking in my 400HP rebuilt engine, and set the timing at 4 BTDC, which I believe to original specs. It was a stock (30 OVER) rebuild, with original specs cam, rocker arms, push rods, 10.25 pistons, etc. Does anyone have a recommendation for a different timing setting? (I'll be doing a little city driving, while I finish some odds and ends and get it ready to sell)

According to the ignition map specs published in Corvette News, the initial timing recommendation is 4 with total centrifugal of 32 @ 5000 for a total WOT timing at high revs of 36. BBs probably make best power 38-40 total if fuel octane is sufficient to prevent detonation, so I would recommend doing the breakin at 4, then bump it up to 6, and if it doesn't detonate try 8.
