I have a few small parts left to recondition and coat prior to my chassis reassembly. These parts are not specifically referenced in the NCRS TIM&JG. I want to make sure I have the correct appearing finish.
The front swaybar brackets appear to have been painted and the repros come that way. Looking on the underside there is some evidence that they might have been zinc or cadmium plated prior to blackout, this shiney finish could also be due to fiction polishing the surface between the rubber bushings and the steel. Were they painted, plated or both?
The rear swaybar brackets appear to have been phosphated or maybe natural steel. I think the repros are a black phosphate finish. What would be the correct way to finish these pieces?
I've coated both the front and rear sway bars semi gloss black. I've seen them done both natural, cast blast, and semi gloss black. The sway bars aren't specifically mentioned as to the finish but I assumed blackout would be correct.
