66 VETTE ENGINE STAMPING AND CASTING??

I am looking at my engine stamping (F0831HE), head casting (H 30 5), does anyone else with a 66 have that close of an assembly date? My car build date is sept 7 1965. All of this is real close, was that normal production? Thanks to anyone who responds.

Trophy Blue #2999 was born on about 10/13/1965 using S968 body (B13). The "on or about" date comes from NCRS WI chapter's web site "calculator" at web address shown below.

Only a few days after engine was built on 10/5/1965 (F1005HE)

Don't know the casting date. Sorry.

Seems like early production 1966 cars had some close dates. I've been chasing the same issue with my Trophy Blue convertible #3191, except I'm trying to run down engine production to vehicle installation dates. I have the following info, cast date J 8 5, engine # F1012HT, car built according to the tag B14 (October 14), and according to the Wisconsin NCRS born on date October 15. According to Noland Adams survey of cars in the 1966 addendum section of his restoration and technical guide - volume 2 there are a couple of early produced 66 cars with 1 day seperation between cast date and engine assembly date. Check your block casting clock. Could have been cast early in the shift on August 30 and then been assembled late on August 31. Drive time from the Saginaw foundry to the Flint engine plant could not have been more than 1 1/2 - 2 hours. Cool down and clean up time of the block after being cast would be the majority of the time consumed between casting and assembly in my opinion.

I have seen Block Castings dated the same as the engine pad stamp. ie: C45 on Block and F0304HH on Pad. Beginning of A.M. shift and end of P.M. shift.
There are also a good 2 dozen such examples in Nolands Book. It was not an exact science to them back then.

            Bill:

My '66 has heads cast on 15 Sep (I155), afternoon shift, with engine assembly on 20 Sep (F0920HT). Given two of those days was a weekend (not sure what they ran for shifts over the weekend), there were only two workdays between head cast date and engine assembly if they didn't work weekends.
