There's a 1969 M21 "660" on eBay (link below -- click on stamp pad image). Was surprised to see such a high number CT9_____45192 [CT = Chevrolet Transmission, similar to CE (engine) stampings].
My '71 "661" M22 P1D19C was purchased over-the-counter [confirmed by guy who did so] and has the code CT1_____43265, the sequence number being LESS than the '69 trans.
I always thought these numbers were sequential and cumulative over the years. Or, do they start at zero or 10001 for each new model or calendar year ? If the latter, seems like a huge number transmissions for either warranty and/or OTC sales.
