    Re: Chevrolet archieves

I heard information about all the important information being found about the Yenko car and it sold for $61,000.00? Where do I find the information?

      Re: Shhhhh.....

It's probably important to retain all records, including receipts for restoration, maintenance, travel to events and shows, etc. to add to the original cost basis and to offset any potential future capital gains taxes that might be demanded. I'm not an accountant but if your hobby makes a capital gain aren't taxes due?

If you restore a car and every think that you might sell it, by all means keep a record of ALL expenses. As Clare speaks of, even mileage, motel rooms, every expense pertaining to the car and showing the car. You can claim them against the profit (ha ha) that you might make. I sold a car several years ago and originally had a HUGH capital gain. Luckily I had all the receipts and cut the gain in over half. Saved quite a few bucks.

Re: Just found out my cars worth nothing

Tell you what, I was just up there this weekend and saw all the vettes (or most) that went through. They for the most part were not up to the standards I see at Bloomington on the field or Carlisle. I also saw more than a few NOM cars with wrong blocks sold as numbers matching for high dollars. I heard from someone at the Pavilion show nearby that many were headed to Japan, and the buyers really don't much care. Not a good thing for the hobby in my opinion, inflated prices for inferior cars, going offshore. There is too much notariety for this show for sure, and more folks with money than brains buying...Craig

It's obvious, which pol. party needs the money the one that has us in debt after three years. Strange how the world has turned upside down.

                        In watching the auctions recently
The people annoucing have no real clue about what they are talking about.
                        I heard 1 car with a 440 Hemi ??
                        Another 100%, all orig mid 60's car with a LS1 - how's that 100% orig and stock...crap like that - misleading.
My opinion they are all hype - few may know cars but even fewer really KNOW them
I found it very dispointing to watch.
Guys buying stuff that they had no clue - I agree with above
                        more money than brains.
Funny - guy will show you the car - then you start looking, isnt even close to what he is claiming or being correct.

How about just selling the car for a dollar. I know of some people that did it here in NY. when you register a newly bought car you must pay 8.25% sales tax on the car. That is why the buyer ususlly asks the seller to write a bill of sale for $1. easy to do on a private sale. Not so easy with an auction

Might be easy to do, but illegal nonetheless. The state I work for checks private car sale amounts vs. "reasonable" values and you can go from trying to avoid a few bucks to criminal charges in a hurry.
