'67 Corvette BB 477/435 Roadster Just Sold for. .

$135,000 at the Barrett-Jackson auction! Apparently the top price of the day.

i watched that blue 67 435 go for the 135k but what was even more amazing was the silvewr(repainted red) 66 425 coupe with chrome valve cover and repo K/Os that went for 70+K . Lots of gold chain necklaces paying big bucks this evening. mike

Re; A good car doesn't need an auction to sell

The Man in the Yellow jacket that bought the yellow Z-28 for $112,000.00 and the 54 vette for $100,000.00 is from my town. I would rather throw the money at the 67 BB than the 54. Did you notice the over-restored corvettes did great. Cosmetics sell BIG! Like the old saying goes "A good car doesn't need an auction to sell".

I've got a nice car or two he's welcome to buy at twice market price.

He probably would if he could be on TV buying it. He could star in a movie called "Rich Guys Gone Wild". Could I tell you stories! Lets not! I'm jealous, of the money he has, only! I am looking forward to saturdays show. I will be out in my garage working on my 65 vette body watching the auction.

One of mine is even yellow. It would match his jacket.

As I mentioned to Wayne in a e-mail prices are above the late 1980 levels, JUST before they fell in the early 1990's. I bought a red 1969 roadster L71 car with the tank sticker for 15,000.00 from a New Toyota Dealer in 1992, who had bought it for a investment in 1988 for about 35000.00. Hope that does not happen again.

Just my personal observation from a person who has studied prices for a long time .... I think all of these cars are linked to new car prices ... and model changes. The 80's were inflated because the average car had passed new car pricing. Presently, the "average" cost of a corvette collector car is still below a new retail corvette. Changing models to C6 has given C3 pricing a boost. Just my two cents .... I could be wrong ! ...Ed

Here I go ! making new enemies ! I wrote a post on this some weeks ago, ( I would never sell or even try to sell a Corvette to a real Corvette collector or guru. ) or any make of car to people that know that car. Why? because they will drive you nuts looking to see if all the nuts and bolts have the right markings. I have sold many vetts (6)and cars(5) through Auctions . WHY? because people buy what they like at biga bucks for what it is and not what bolt, number or over spray the intake has. Where I my self would be looking for the things I just stated and never buy at auction. You rarely hear of a so called Corvette guru buy a Corvette at the prices a Corvette in Auction can bring.
