    Corvette Hoods on eBay

Are people really this stupid? Here are two real jewels - a '63-'67 small block hood and a '68-'69 L-88 hood. Both are "original". Now look closely.

L-88 style scoop glued on a small block hood. Hood hinges busted out.

Busted up '66 small block hood

"Original" right hand Corvette mirror - I don't have a clue as to what this really is.

Now before you say, "Hey, $10 isn't bad for a hood skin, notice the shipping is $100 for the midyear hood and $105 for the "L-88" hood. You can ship them Greyhound for around $40.

I sure hope they are not NCRS members.

      Mark-----

The value of the big block hood is equal to the value of the used hood latches which are attached. Otherwise, it's not even worth the cost to ship it, regardless of what the actual cost is. The small block hood is worth "0" as far as I'm concerned. Both of these hoods are so bad that I don't think that the "skin" panels are worth anything.

jordan: as your previous post this evening states you just received your first Restorer magazine, i assume you are a newcomer to NCRS. if that is the case, welcome and feel free to pick the minds of the oldtimers who regularly use this forum. in regards to the hoods on ebay, by joining ncrs and using this forum and, better yet, attending chapter, regional and national ncrs meets, a newcomer can learn why the hoods on ebay are a POS and avoid buying such trash. again, welcome, get involved and have fun. mike

I was being sarcastic about the hoods !!(problem is,someone will probably buy those garbage items!(theres ann ass born for every seat!)!.I've been burned a few times on ebay a few times in all honesty(no "big" money thank God)And am smart enough to not run my wallet over the flames again.

I agree that joining NCRS is one of the smartest things a corvette owner can do.I owned a 62 for 10 yrs and didnt join for one reason or another, and I'm sure missed out on a wealth of information which was right at my fingertips.I have purchased a 66 roadster in a considerably higher state of build, and have allready gotten info on topics that were beyond me.

Thanks for the welcome ,and I'm sure this tech discussion is time well spent!!.(beats ebay!!)Jordan

You will never believe how much

the "original L-88 hood" went for. I think I'll start looking for busted up hoods to sell on eBay.

The small blcok hood sold for more than I would guess.

I hope those guys were local. (Obviously, they are loco.) the shipping of $100 is a killer.
