Tired 65 front springs?

tired front springs larry sherertz it may be time to replace the tired front coils on my hp conv the nose looks a little low and i hate to replace original components the measurement from center of wheel to lip of fiberglass verticle is on left and on right side any advice or input on what that measurement should be would be appreciated thanx larry ncrs

re tired front springs carl rose dear larry i feel the same way you do about replacing orginal parts my convertible as i remember measures about from ground at the center of the front wheel lip bolt ons reproduction redlines tires you might want to think about the following if your springs are worn chances are the rest of the front suspension is worn also replacing the springs will elevate the front of the car but possibly more than you would want be sure when rebuilding the front suspension to orient the springs in the correct direction and that they seat fully in their saddles i recently rebuilt my front suspension and fortunately did not have to replace the coils the car did sit up slightly until i had driven it about miles as a note of caution on replacing original parts someone in the past had replaced my rear leaf spring with an original leaf unit i was afraid a reproduction leaf would elevate the back of the car too much so i searched for and found an original gm replacement rear spring had bands unlike the factory installed pieces installed it and voila the car sat up too high lived with it for four days then re installed the incorrect leaf that sits correctly this was my experience with replacing suspension components good luck hope this helps carl

re tired front springs joe lucia i believe that the original front springs for your car are still available from gm unless they have been very recently discontinued part number is this is a issued part number so i suspect that spring would be identical to what was originally installed coil springs do fatigue when i replaced the coil springs in my original owner ' about years ago i compared the free length of the original used springs against the new gm replacement springs the used springs were about shorter after installing the new gm springs all aim dimensions were within specs
