C1 59 Sun visor ready windshield upper trim wanted

    Hi,

I'm looking for a '59 windshield upper trim which has the sun visor holes (with thread and reinforcement). Anybody selling this item for a resonable price?

    greetings,
    Rob.

You can probably get one from Mary Jo Rhoner, but I doubt it will be "reasonable".

It looks like you already have one. There are several shops around that can repair and polish these pieces. That would be a lot more "reasonable".

        Ed,

        This one isn't mine unfortunately...

          Ed,

Mary Jo was asking a lot of money for a proper (buffered) one so I concluded I wanted to look a bit further...

          greetings,
          Rob.

Rob: do you have the stainless trim or are you lacking it completely? if you have one , it can be modified to accept sunvisors. mike

              Mike,

What would you do to it and what would it cost me ? E.g. drill the holes, and glue a screw on the back or would you be able to make it even more authentic ?

I have my original one (not yet un-assembled) but I'm a bit reluctant to send it to the States since it is a fragile component.

Just properly locate and drill the holes. Attach a nut plate with the proper threads (10-24, I think)with JB weld or some other epoxy type glue.

Rob, I installed visors on my 1960 back in 1989 without backing nuts or reinforcement bar since I did not know any better. I have to tighten the screws about once per month, but it works for me since my car is a "driver," not a "show" car.

If you decide to drill your upper trim piece without taking it off the car, WARNING, be sure to take into consideration that the chrome door posts insert into the upper stainless steel trim piece on the driver side and the passenger side. My first hole was not far enough away from the door post by 2 millimeters. I had to move over and re-drill the hole. Good luck.
