    C1 Dvr's seat repair

The driver's seat in my '57 is losing it's tautness. Is it possible to correct the way the seats deterioate through the distortion induced by hours of sitting in the driver's seat? The passenger seat, throgh less use, is still taut and new-looking.

a new set of springs will probably cure the problem. if you are thrifty like me and looking for a quickie fix, simply switch drivers and pass seat bottoms(almost certain they are symetrical). if you'd like to do it correctly, get hold of al knoch, order new seat springs and go for it. mike

Go to your interior shop and have them shot steam in to the old foam it will bring them back to life like new again.

        Mike,
When I redid my interior in my 57 I got new seat springs from Al Knoch. It raised me up several inches and now my head hits the top bows. If you are a tall or big guy be sure you have sufficient head clearence if the seats are increased in height. Otherwise, you will have the same miserable ride with the top up. Thankfully I rarely drive with the top up so it is not a major problem. Nothing like getting beat on the head with a metal rod to enhance your day.

The seats can be switched from side to side, but they are not symetrical and you would want to put them in their proper locations prior to judging. The sides of the seat covers extend to the floor boards on the outside edges but do not on the insides edges where they would be against the tunnel.
