I have a Top Flight '57 that I love to drive and enjoy. Although it is equipped with lap belts, I don't feel safe with them. Has anyone installed shoulder belts in a C1 and if so, how were they connected, especially the connection that would be behind the seat?.....thanks

Feel certain you could fabricate a bracket utilizing the soft top bow assembly mounting sites on a c-1 to mount shoulder belts. mike -

I was thinking the same thing for our `62. I was thinking of the front harnesses from the early to mid '70s GM cars which were 2 piece.Comment

Try andover corvewttes for the pieces needed to add shoulder belts. they have been very reasonable and good quality belts i've bought for our street rods and antique autos.The ad in hemmings and i think the Driveline. mikeComment

I saw a 57 with shoulder belts with the upper bracket attached to the soft top mount...looked very sturdy and workable. I plan to do the same on my 57.

C1 Shoulder Belts Are Not a Good Idea
Please keep in mind that without a headrest on the C1; In an accident your body will rebound rearward after hitting the taut shoulder belt and when your back hits the seat back, your head will keep going rearward and break your neck. Sorry for the blunt explanation, but it's the facts. Seat backs and headrests take a severe hit from the body in today's cars with shoulder belts.Comment

But which is worse? Hitting the steering wheel and / or being tossed side to side. Even with out the shoulder belt wouldn't I still rebound rearwards?Comment

You'll rebound from the wheel, too...
and you'll be doing it farther. Anything which restrains body movement is an improvement. Flail injuries go both ways. I'd rather flail 6" than 2'.Comment
