    Side yoke finish

Help!... I still havent gotten this question answered, and now that I've got the diffy looking somewhat like it should, I need to know what the side yokes are supposed to look like. Are they just machined steel, cast iron, or what? Thanks to all the great guys on here who are so willing to share their knowledge!

    Brandon--

I finished my side yokes in the same manner as the differential, cast paint with a coat of Nyalic clear coating, after light sandblasting with fine sand. I also replaced the old deflector shields with new ones from Long Island Corvette, also coating them. They look superb..Maybe not 100% correct and/or accurate for Top Flight, but they won't rust or need maintenance.

    Good luck

I would like to add to Bryan's post. On the diff. 1/2 shafts I like to make the tubes appear as raw sheet metal against the raw cast iron of the end yokes. I then touch up the welds with steel blue rule die to look like heat marks from welding. I like to plate the deflector cups with caswell plating kit to look like raw stampings but retain some rust prevention. Nothing drives me nuts more than having freshly restored undercarriage start rusting before ya even get the vette out of the garage.
