    Original Sidepipes on '65???

    Hello,

Can someone tell me if it is possible to tell if the sidepipes on my '65 are original to the car or not? I have no paperwork and I am unsure what the difference is, if any, between originals and the reproductions.

    Thanks,
    Gary

Start with the VIN number, as sidepipes were not available til mid=year or so, I don't have my judging guide handy, but I believe it carries an approximate date or VIN for sidepipes. I would be leary of any sidepipes before March Build. Otherwise there are a lot of signs to look for, including the trans support for the exhaust pipes, signs of ground straps being attached at the trans crossmember, notches cut into the metal reinforcement under the doors (sidepipe cars only) absence of the supports for the rocker covers evidence of rear muffler supports on the frame.....lots of things
