Thanks, mine is auto. All my local Chevvy dealer can tell me is that the factory ratio should be 307 (unless it is a 331 - which according to his book has the same ref #) and it is a GM.

Ralph,
I believe that all automatic cars had a Dana 36 and all manual cars had a Dana 44.

Ralph don't know specifically about your 84, but my 85 has a label located in the compartment behind the drivers seat that is visible when you open the compartment. This label lists the codes my 85 has. You can also spend a few dollars and get a printout from the Corvette Museum. The Corvette plant gave all the retained and stored information to the museum for this purpose.
