I am in the process of reinstalling the seatbelts in my 63 SWC and am having difficulty in getting the bolts started. Does anyone have any tips for getting them started, especially the bolts that are screwed into the side of the console. Thanks Len #39247

Re: Seatbelt Bolts
i assume you've installed new carpets and are about to re-install the seatbelts. if thats the case, you'll need to trim away some of the insulation on the backside of the carpets(assume you have the rubber-backed repro carpets.) if you used jute(non-orig) then ya gotta do away with all the jute to enable the seat belt fastener to thread into the captive nut on the floor pan backup plate. take a 3/8 drive ratchet with about an 8" extension and the proper allen head bit that fits the fastener. Don't spare the torque as you spin the ratchet(BTW, seat not present makes for easier seat belt installation) good luck. mike- Top

Re: Seatbelt Bolts
Thanks for the reply Mike. I followed your suggestions and removed the seats and by doing so found that I had gotten some adhesive in the bolt holes when I installed the carpeting which was preventing me from getting the bolts started in the threads. Belts and bolts went in fine after that. Thanks Len- Top
