I recently learned that the "DD" on the mid year VIN tags was short for "Delivery Date" and that the dealers were to stamp the delivery dates on these tags when the cars were delivered to the original owners. Also learned that some dealers stamped the delivery dates into the trim tags as they were soft aluminum and easier to stamp than the stainless steel VIN tags.
Our recently purchased 1965 convertible has 075 stamped into the trim tag just to the right of "MADE BY CHEVROLET". Can anyone help with the format of these stampings and what does 075 translate to? I found an old Restorer article by John Amgwert that addresses the Delivery Dates, had pictures of some VIN tags (also with a similar three digit stamping), but does not indicate the format. Thanks in advance; any help would be greatly appreciated.
