022 master cylinder

I recently found a 022 master cylinder for my 61. All numbers are correct on it per the judging manual, but the 022 is the same size as the rest of the casting number "5456". I have another 022 the needs to be restored and it has the larger 022 cast number. What is the difference and are they both correct?

The larger 022 is correct for your 61. The smaller 022 is earlier, starting, if I recall, in 57.
