      Re: Baghdad Thanksgiving

I think it really showed his deep caring. I have never seen a President express more emotion, pain and even sorrow to the people in his visits. Whether they be to Baghdad or NYC. His first sentence, the choice of words, and I may be rephrasing it somewhat, "to spend the holiday with loved ones" showed his love for us. God bless out troops, President Bush and the rest of us lucky enough to celebrate Happy Thanksgiving.

I'm Thankful To Have W As Our President

You could clearly see the emotion in his face when he walked out in front of our troops.

        Happy Thanksgiving!

          And Here We Go Again......

With the liberal media, the Democrats, the Washington think-tank "analysts" and "political experts", and the almost countless Democratic Presidential candidates, already starting to piss and moan about his trip, lack of truthfulness about today's White House calendar, "publicity stunt", etc. If any of these pencil-necked geek whiners had any cojones, they'd have been showing their appreciation for our troops too, but no, they'll just bitch about it. They always manage to find a way to hang a negative on something very positive. Schmucks

You don't think you're gonna see any of their ilk risking their liberal asses in a real live war zone, do you?

Personally, I for one think it was a "publicity stunt" on Bush's part to "one-up" "Billary Clinton" who was in Afghanastan

God Bless Our Troops And Their Families

I would be willing to bet that the President's trip has been planned far in advance of "Billary's". Then that would make her trying to "one up" and look presidential which is a farce. Way to go "W" and keep up the good work. There isn't a liberal out there that can touch you. God Bless our troops and their families!

As someone who had military friends assigned to the White House during the Billary administration, I find her trip to Afghanistan quite humorous, since her distain for everyone and everything military is well documented.

                      Amen to John Hinckley

The response from the troops when they saw him says it all. Bagdad is the most unsafe place in the world for our president. He went to support our troops and boost morale, not publicity. Knowbody wants this. The alternative is more 911's.

                            How fortunate we are!!

It's Friday evening as I sit here enjoying the Discussion Board, in my warm home and my belly still full of turkey and ham..................... Plenty of different opinions are always evident on the board, even some rather spirited discussions from time to time. Ever stop to think just how fortunate we are to be able to express our opinions with no fear of punishment? Occasionally I come back to the reality of the fact that we owe our young men and women who are in the Middle East a big "thank you" for the sacrifices they are making. Then there's our fathers and grandfathers before them who made those same sacrifices so we could all enjoy the freedoms we take for granted every day. I agree with the other posts that we have a great president and I'm sure our troops appreciate his concern and caring for them. We are indeed very lucky and blessed to live in the greatest nation on the planet and we should all be more thankful. Rex Turner 8089

Wishing our troops were back here!

I too, am thankful for living in this country and thankful for the men and women of our armed forces. I fully support these dedicated public servants for they do not always choose where they are sent.

I am, however, not generally a Bush supporter. I endorsed his decision to send troops to Afghanistan but I am not in favor of this action in Iraq. It is killing and maiming our young men and women with a disturbing frequency that is all too similar to our early involvement with Vietnam.

I believe we should support our troops with our money. No soldier that serves in combat should ever be in a food stamp line. I'd like to see the over-generous pensions our congressman receive cut to a small Social Security supplement (retroactively) and given to our troops instead. The survivors of a soldier killed in action should receive no less than $250,000. If we're going to have "give away" programs, then we should give it to those that really deserve it!

Oh yeah, some of this could be funded by special taxes on Halliburton's and Bechtel's contract earnings in Iraq. Might as well throw that in while I'm dreaming.....
