68 SB 327/350 front sway bar size

Replacing the links with new bolts and bushings on my front sway bar for my 68 SB, along with some other suspension fixes.

Measured the diameter of the bar - 3/4".

Was that the stock size installed when the car was built?

I know that the rear sways only came from the factory on BB's.

Does anyone sell the mount bushings (rubber or poly) seperately for the front bar?

The pictures of the full mount and bushing from VBP does not look like the stock ones on my car, the mounting plate on the stock bushing mount, where it "wraps" around the bushing comes completely around the bushing edge circumfrence, while the VBP ones do not, at least on their web picture and catalog.

I don't want to go to a bigger bar for the car.

Thanks in advance for any advise.

    Regards,

    Rich

3/4" is the SB base supension front bar size. It increased circa mid-seventies to 13/16" as the car got heavier.

I recommend hard link bushings as a minor (and easily "undoable") mod to crisp up the handling and reduce the tendency to transistion to oversteer at the limit on C2s. C3s have a lower rear roll center, which increases the inherent understeer bias, but from my own personal experience with some early C3s they can also rotate, so I would install the hard link bushings if you're not having the car judged.

      Thanks Duke.

      Hard means "Poly", I assume.

Same for the sway bar mount bushings?

Do you know who has them available?

      Thanks again,

      Rich

Yes, "hard" = polyurethane, but there are probably other materials. I don't think it's necessary to change the pillow block bushings - just the end link bushings.

Off hand I don't know where to get them, but there should be numerous sources. Havent' shopped for them in a while.
