    Corvette Central Exhaust?

Who manufactures the Corvette Central exhaust systems? Who manufactures the Zip systems and where can they be purchased? Thanks for the help!

Corvette Central manufactures both. They drop ship for Zip.

      Bob------

The Corvette Central-manufactured exhaust systems are very nice systems. Their EXTERNAL configuration is very close to original, they are aluminized for long life, and they are well made. However, their INTERNAL configuration is NOT the same as original mufflers and they WILL NOT duplicate the sound of original mufflers.

        Are you

talking about oval, or is this true of the round C1 muffler as well?

As far as I know, it's true for both.

            Well the JC Whitney mufflers...

I installed 19 years ago are the correct dimensions, baffled not glasspack, and my Dad said they sounded a LOT like the originals. I have to wonder, if a muffler is 4" dia, correct length an pipe dia, baffled straight through, I don't see how you could go wrong. Oval mufflers, sound quality can be a can of worms.

Ive had GM off roads on my 62 and recently replaced them with CC off roads.
The GM were a little louder and more throaty. The CC arent bad though.

                Dave------

With mufflers, every, single aspect of their construction affects the sound that they produce. For 2 mufflers to produce the same sound, they have to be identical in EVERY way, right down to the most minute detail of construction. That means thickness of material used for EVERY component of the muffler, type of material, configuration of the baffles, welds and attachment of the baffles, type and amount of sound deadening material (if used), crimp joint configuration, and, probably, 100+ more factors. If mufflers are CLOSE in all of these ways, they will produce sound that is CLOSE; if they are EXACT, then they will produce sound that is EXACT.

                  Joe-

What exhaust system, in your opinion, best duplicates the original system in sound, quality, and appearance?

In my opinion, there are none that duplicate the original sound or, even, come close to it. Corvettes always had mufflers which produced a totally unique sound. As far as external appearance and quality of construction is concerned, the systems manufactured/sold by Allen's Exhaust and Corvette Central are great.
