    tach board for 75

    My tach does not work. before i invest in a new tach board, has anyone reverve engineered the tach board and found out what the i.c. really is?

    Having been in the semiconductor business, you'll typically find guys killed their 'grandmother' to win a socket at any of the autos. This usually entailed some level of customization (pin out, packaging, environmental conditioning/spec, Etc.). Without decapsulation and a short sweep through the SCM (scanning electron microscope) you keep in your garage, this is a tall order. But, that's where one would go to get the info you seek because the IC 'die'/'chip' will bear source ID marks to protect IP (intellectual property) rights....

        not always. what they do most of the time is take a standard part and put their part no. on to make it "easier" for them to manage in their data base there are and were a no. of "off the shelf" parts that would have easily done the job.
