Jack- thank you for the lesson on mirrors. Like Bill, I had changed my original standard mirror to an optional day-night mirror years ago. I placed the original in the box that delivered the optional mirror and on the shelf it went. After reviewing the lesson (and doing my homework with the AIM) I went out to the car, removed the day-night mirror, inspected it, and no 565801 bushing.
Then the light bulb went on! Pulled the original from the shelf, and, you guessed it, found the 565801 bushing inside the mounting hole of the original mirror. Removed it, installed it into the mounting hole of the day-night mirror, and everything is as it should be in the Corvette world (at least as it relates to my inside rear view mirror). Thanks again UJ.
