Re: mid year drive line and cast iron parts restor
Krylon satin clear has recently been recommended by several member for just this purpose. I recommend it also, it works great, especially here in southern California with the nice, dry weather. I've used it on both cast iron and steel with good results. I've left cast iron as well as steel parts I coated with it outside to test it and it holds up very well.- Top

Re: mid year drive line and cast iron parts restor
After you clean your parts and get them the correct color ( cast susp. parts come in many different colors) you can soak them overnight in oil, greese, cosmoline, wax products. stp, almost any type of water repelling product the trick is letting it soak until its full. pull out let it drain, wipe clean and your good for long time. ..Bill- Top

Re: mid year drive line and cast iron parts restor
John,
For a natural, unpainted finish, my favorite product is Pre-Lube 6, from Quanta. Great on half-shafts, drive shafts, cast parts, parking brake cables, etc.
I can't tell you how long it will keep the treated parts from rusting. Depends on too many factors. What I can say though, is you will definately like the finish.
Regards,
Gene- Top
