    Fuel Pump Rebuild Kit

Does anyone know of a fuel pump rebuild kit for a 67 427/390 a/c motor, part # 6440482?

The catalogs show one through 66, but not for 67.

    Thanks for any help.

I believe the 1966 application that you're speaking of is a small block application. Through 1966 Corvette small blocks used, mostly, the "screw-type" fuel pumps which are rebuildable and for which kits remain available.

Corvette big blocks, from 1965 onward, used the "crimped" type fuel pumps. For all practical purposes, these pumps are not "field-rebuildable" and, as far as I know, no kits are available for them.

Thanks for the info. I guess I had the wrong number. It is a 67 427/390, and based on what you say, and the lack of a product in any of the catalogs that I have seen, I guess that I will have to replace it.

I would also think that I should not try to scrimp on the change, and get the most correct one that I can find.

Charles - have you checked with Authur Gould - on rebuilding that pump
I sent a pump off my 440 RR and he was able to rebuild it. Just a thought

You can purchase a brand new GM fuel pump for your car under the original part number of GM #6416741 from GM or AC Delco dealers for about $30. The pump will not have the type number (40482) stamped into the bottom of the flange and it will not have "AC" embossed on the top casting of the pump. Otherwise, it will be virtually identical to your original pump, assuming that the pump now on the car is original or an old AC replacement. Also, it will be NEW. That's important for a safety-related component like a fuel pump.

It's possible that Arthur Gould could rebuild the original pump. I didn't realize that he did crimp-style fuel pumps, but he may have the expertise and parts to do it.
