Re: C2 Interior Mirror
Dave,
I don't know when your car was built, but my 66 coupe is a late car (May, 66) and (although the mirror was the standard, not day/night) it does have a number of 67 touches on it. I am no mirror expert, but if yours is a late car it might legitimately have a 67-identified mirror on it. On the other hand, it might just have been switched, as you suggested.
The standard mirror does not have the day/night switch, and is dated. My original one was really pitted. I think I got the replacement from Paragon, and had it dated.

Re: C2 Interior Mirror
Dave - The '66 Corvette TIM&JG edition you have is missing part of the interior mirror description as translated from the previous edition. The '66 TIM&JG is being updated and will once again contain the appropriate '66 interior mirror info.
As others have indicated, it sounds like the one you have is a '67 or later day/night mirror.
Briefly, the one style '66 interior mirror was the standard non-day/night type and was dated. The other confirmed configuration was a non-glare day/night type with no rubber surround and was not dated. Pete- Top

Dave:
The 1965-66 is much rarer, and more expensive than the 1967 with the rubber gasket. Probably why you found one on your car. My '65 also had one when I bought it. Got the correct one at Carlisle 2001. I think it cost about $150, or $175. There is only one person who has these. Let me know if you need contact info.

Dave:
Yes, but I can say that she does nice work. Mine looks real nice, works good, and is tight.
In my case, my '65 has the backup lights, so I had to get the day/night mirror. I know that the backup lights were standard in '66, so they were not tied into the mirror. Ah, go fer the extra hundred.........options are nice.

Re: C2 Interior Mirror
If your 66 mirror has the gray rubber surround with a gray square type day/nite knob on the bottom then keep it because it is the correct one. These are extremely hard to find and everyone is trying to sell something else (corvair mirrors) as a legit replacement. If that is the case it would be best to have restoration.- Top

Re: C2 Interior Mirror
Jerry - I think you'll find the day/night mirror you are referring to with the gray rubber surround and the "square" gray knob is what came on the early '67 Corvettes up through VIN 2500+/-. The '66 Corvette day/night mirror did not to the best of my knowledge have the rubber surround. Pete- Top

Re: C2 Interior Mirror
Peter, I agree with your earlier post of no dates. However after having two original (post Feb. 66) cars with day/nite and both having the gray rubber surround with the gray square knob I know first hand that these were at least on some 66's. I have heard that the early 66 had gray knob but no rubber. I have also heard that some had black knobs (but am skeptical). The JG says gray "lever". Well a "lever" is more descriptive of a 67 day/nite mirror. The rubber surround was implemented as a saftey feature to reduce sharp edges. In later 66 came head rest and shoulder belts (safety) so it would not be a stretch to include the mirror modifications. If I am judging, then I think either version with the gray knob is acceptable. Just my $.02 experience. Man if this resto stuff weren't so much fun I'd give it up!!!!- Top
