Anyone know the details of the forward fiber optic bezels for the 3c cars. I am mainly concerned about 68 corvette though. My understanding is that early 68 used a plastic bezel, and later versions were metal. I believe they were both the same size. I heard that later c3's cars used a similar looking bezel but it was a tad longer overall. Anyone heard anything about this or have part numbers for the different bezels. Regards, Terry

Earlier 1968 Corvettes did use a plastic fiber optic bezel for the forward lamps. Actually, I think that most 68s have this bezel as the change did not occur until quite late in production. The early bezel was an assembly with the lens and was of GM #6294332. This part was discontinued from SERVICE in October, 1968 and replaced by GM #3943642, a seperate metal bezel, which was used PRODUCTION for the remainder of 1968 through 1971. The GM #3943642 bezel was discontinued from SERVICE in November, 1982. After 1971, SERVICE editions of the 3943642 were configured somewhat differently than the original pieces of that part number. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: fiber optic bezel on c3 cars.
Thanks, Joe. I will have to check my bezel. I have seen the reproduction plastic bezels years ago and I think I have one around here. I think EC products made it. Any opinion in there quality. Are original one's hard to find. My car is May 68 built and I think I found a metal one in it. I sort of don't think it is original based on what you said. I would like to find an original plastic one. Best regards, Terry- Top

I have no record of that part number, at all. I think he's reading the number wrong. The part number of the late 1968 through 1971 bezel was 3943642.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
