Anti pump up lifters in BB, low oil volume?

Has anybody heard of anti pump up lifters delivering low volumes of oil to the rocker arms at idle on a BB.

No, I have never heard of this. But they will clatter like solid lifters until about 2k.

i have seen this problem with aftermarket stamped steel rocker arms because the oil hole in the rocker arm was not in the correct location.

I appreciate your responces. I will elaborate a bit. I rebuilt this engine some time ago. I thought I would be smart and use the anti pump up lifters in my 390hp in my 68 vette. I also installed the roller tipped rockers on it. It is a factory spec block set-up other wise. The engine runs well but in the process of adjusting the rocker arms I was disappointed in the flow of oil coming to the rocker arms and the delay in getting there. In years past I seem to recall somebody mentioning the oil issue in relationship to the anti pump up lifters. The only other thing I can think of is that I have the wrong cam in it. I heard there was a design change from the 67 to 68 block in the rear cam bearing area and you can't use a 67 bb cam in a 68 bb engine (atleast not the 390hp). I trusted my engine builder to do the right thing back then. Regards, Terry

if you mean full roller rockers including the fulcrum the only oil yor need is to cool the valve springs. the stock type with the ball pivot needs lots of oil to carry away the heat. just going from stock to full roller i have seen a oil temp drop of 15 degrees.

Clem, I talked to a guy that races 427 engines and also rebuilds engines for a living. Long story short, he says I probably have the wrong rear cam bearing in the engine or the wrong cam. My engine is an odd-ball engine. It is a later 67 big block and probably hung around the factory floor untill it finally found a home in my 68. To answer other questions, I am using roler tipped rocker arms. I will not tell my wife who is sick of the project and wants it done, but the engine is going to come back out this winter. I will have my friend do it right. I have come too far to have it get trashed. Best regards. Terry

if your block is a 67 you need a cam without the groove on the rear cam journal and a rear cam bearing with just 1 hole. what is the casting # on the rear driver side bellhousing flange and what is stamped on the pad in front of the passenger side cly head. are your rocker arms full roller not just the tip?

My block is interesting to say the least. It is a 67 block, left rear shoulder is 3904351 and I believe the cast date is C7 (it has been a while since I have had to think about this). The right front shoulder has the vin number stamped in it along with the engine type, it does match the car. It has never been decked, it has the original broach markings. Heads, intake and stuff all match and are close to the build date of the car. I took pictures of it all at the time I was having the machine work done. I talked to a guy once in KC area and he had a similar build date of my car (May 13 as I recall) and he had the same goofy engine block as mine. He pulled his engine and found a 321 block with a good date and got a Bloomington Gold Certificate with it (interesting?). He had a lot of money in that car. I have heard stories of engines getting set aside at the plant and then eventually getting put in the production line. I think I heard of a block shortage of one sort or another but that is just hearsay coming from me. Regards, Terry
