Trim Tag-82 vette

I am in doubt as to exactly where the trim tag on an 82 vette is located. I would also like to know what exactly is on the metal plate , how big this plate is and in addition to the paint code is there four or five things or just the paint colour code ? Where is the tire size written as well? Any 82 owners out there.? I am going to look at an 82 tomorrow and need to know what to look at (and where to look) in order to determine originality. I know that some tags or plates are on the glove box door on some years.

All 1968-82 Corvette trim tags were located in the same location-----the forward left side door jamb area. Very easy to see with the left side door open all the way.

The plate is polished stainless steel and is 3" wide and 1-1/2" high. It is retained to the car by ordinary pop rivets.

The plate contains the word "Chevrolet" at the top. To the right of that in raised emboss is the car's body build date code in alpha-numeric series.

Below that are the trim code and the paint code as follows

Below that are

GENERAL MOTORS CORPORATION

Below that is the safety certification statement

Don you will find the trim tag on the drivers side near the upper hinge riveted to the bird cage. It will have body build date and the original colors of the interior and exterior. You should find labels on the rear of the driver'sdoor also for tires and vehicle certification. Lyle

In 82, the trim tags left the plant with body color...so you may find some paint on the stainless steel tag. The plant began to do this sometime after 1975.
