    c2 fuel pump

Replaced a functioning but leaking fuel pump on 65 327 today. Now, no fuel at carb.
No signs of a leak but of course car won't start. Replaced the 1 inch bolt just around the corner of the block before I started- I was under the impression that this bolt would now hold the pushrod in position.
Is the push rod off? What is the normal procedure for making sure it is aligned? Also, could I have bent the pushrod with the longer bolt? The pump ia a new replacement from Chicago Corvette. Thanks for your help.

My guess is the interface of the push rod and fuel pump arm is off (asuming the pump works). Don H.

John- normally, you use a longer bolt tightened finger tight to holf the pushrod up against the cam lobe. There is no need to use any more force on it than is necessary to keep it from sliding down into the cavity where the pump arm resides. It may be that you have the pump arm above the rod, and it slid down in the cavity too far, and the rod is no longer riding on the cam. I am not sure if you can actually get the pump assembled in this state or not, but the bolt should be removed and a short one with sealant used to replace it. If you tightened the longer bolt too much on the rod, you may have created indentations on the rod and caused it to bind in the block. Just guessing. I don't recall if that rod is fully hardened it's entire length, or if the tips are just case hardened. Good luck...Craig
