    60-2 HD BRAKE DRUMS ?

what is the "drop dead" or throw-em-away-you-just-became-a-trailer-queen measurement for the insides of the drums? Thanks.

    Loren-----

I realize that you are looking for a definitive answer here and, unfortunately, I can't offer that since I'm not a drum brake "kind-of-guy". However, the 57-62 HD brake drums were, I believe, 11" drums, which was the same diameter as the standard brake drums used for C1 Corvettes. So, I would expect the same "discard" thickness would apply.

Generally, Chevrolet used to recommend a maximum REFINISHING bore size of, I believe, 0.060" over on these drums. Add to that about 0.015" for allowable wear beyond the maximum refinishing bore size for the "discard" thickness. So, mu GUESS would be that the discard bore size would be about 11.075".

I would think that someone on the board would, at least, have a a standard drum handy to confirm that from the cast-in discard thickness embossing found on the drums.

The HD drums were cut to a different

finish - I suspect the tolerances might be different.

        Loren,
This might not be of much help, but all the original standard drims that I have on the shelf are all marked with a 11.90 max size.

John means 11.090", which is correct! *NM*
