I am converting my 62 from a generator to an alternator, and I am hoping to use the 63 charging circuit.
The 1963 Corvette Shop Manual page 6Y-4 Figure 5 and page 6Y-7 Figure 10 indicate a resistor in the line from the ignition switch ACC pin to pin 4 of the voltage regulator. The wiring diagram on pages 12-28 and 29 does not show this resistor. Does anyone know if this resistor is present, what it is, and where it is? If it is there, it must limit current to the VR-4, but I don't know why.
Also, does anyone know what the ALT-R pin is for? My guess is it tells the VR how to regulate the ALT-Field.
FYI, Actually some previous owner put an alternator in my 63, but the wiring looks so strange (VR pins 2 and 3 wired to coil ballast resistor, pin 4 NC, and ALT R NC) that I want to do it right.
