    leaking fuel pump gasket

My C2 convertible with327/350 appears to be leaking oil at the fuel pump gasket at attachment to the block. I would like to use a Fel-pro performance gasket
to replace whatever was used before. It appears to be difficult to get ordering
info for this particular gasket. Any suggestions? Thanks

I don't know if a Fel-Pro performance-series gasket is even available for this application. In fact, that may be why you're having difficulty finding ordering information. In any event, I expect that the Fel-Pro gasket, if it exists, is not much different than the current GM gasket, GM #12560223. The performance of this gasket may be improved by the application of a VERY LIGHT film of Permatex Ultra Copper RTV sealant to both sides of the gasket surface.

I find that any parts house if you ask can order Fel-Pro gaskets , which are the best you will find to the original design. ASKING for the thicker valve cover gaskets then they use , you will find that they are the correct thickness that was used in the 50's and 60's.Your fuel pump may be leaking from the fuel pump weep hole and not the gasket.

agree with roy in that oil escaping thru seep hole in upper body of pump much more common than pump/pumpplate/engine block interface. mike

Does this mean that there is a leak in the oil seal inside the pump ? In other words should I plan on replacing the pump?

You might also want to confirm that the oil you see isn't coming from the lower of the two 3/8"-16 tapped holes right around the corner from the pump on the front face of the block; that hole goes through into the fuel pump pushrod cavity, and is supposed to have a bolt with thread sealer on it plugging the hole. You wouldn't believe how many engines I see with this bolt missing and oil all over the fuel pump and down that side of the block and oil pan.
