    valve Stem Caps

I just got a set of 4 valve stem caps with the little tit on top. They're in cherry shape.
The numbers on the caps are:
    DILL
    527
    TP (or TF)
There are lines going up and down the sides as a "grip".
Are these the real deal, and what year or years did they come on?

They were actually on my boss' truck.

They are probably the current replacements that are almost identical to originals. There are some minor differences but as old as the NCRS Judging Crew is now days we cant tell the difference without a very strong flashlight and a big magnifing glass. Every Ford I have bought in the last several years for company cars has had them. They will work for 1959 - and up to the Shark era for sure.

They're on all new Chrysler products too - and they're "627"

        Re: valve Stem Caps

The 70-72 judging manual reads that those Dill and Schrader valve caps with the nub on the top is correct and that was always my understanding. I noticed the 4 mile yellow 70 or 71 at Hershey had a smooth rounded valve cap and wondered why. I just purchesed a low mileage 72 w/ original tires and an never used spare that have the same caps as that 4 mile car. It may be that the valve caps required by the JG are incorrect or there were two types of valve caps used. Anyone out there have any opinions or facts on this. ??

My 72 has the rounded ones on my driver rims, but I always sustected they were just replacement. Now you're making me think. The set of tires currently mounted is the 3rd set in its life.

I used the Dill caps for judging at Hershey with no ill effects.

The 4 mile car at Hershey was also a 1972. Sunflower Yellow.

Send pics of your car, Dave.

              Terry,
The car I have is a 72 VIN # 12293, built at the end of January. The tires are Goodyear white stripes and all are dated 022(last 3 numbers), which as you know is the second week of 1972. Given the new spare and the low original mileage I'm relatively sure these are original tires, stems, caps etc. It seems like a small item but I'll bet many of us hunted the dimple caps only to find Quanta sells them as reproductions. Just another thing to keep us purists going.
