Re: seat belts date code for 67
Chris - The '67 TIM&JG p.30 under Seat Belts has an example of the date of manufacture which is "ink" stamped on the tag sewn on the lower end of the belts. The format example is 19 E 67 where 19 is the week and 67 is the last two digits of the year. All '67 seat belts I have seen have that date format so the EE4566 you have is unique and not what I would expect; but there's always something new to learn. All the seat belts, both portions , i.e. inner and outer pieces, should have or originally had tags sewn on them and all the tags were typically stamped. Plus, the tags had additional information printed on them. The tags on the belts for my Sept build '67 show the following printed information:
GM
THIS BELT MEETS ALL REQUIREMENTS
OF SAE SPEC J-4c AND FEDERAL SPEC.
HAMILL 1967
MODEL # C10
The date of manufacture ink stamped on the lower portion of the tag on all four belt portions is 35E66.
To the best of my knowledge the numbers stamped on the backs of the buckles are not date information. Both of mine are stamped 3203.
Original buckles have the information on proper seat belt usage stamped on them in a defined stampe outline rectangle with the words IMPORTANT and below that 4 numerically defined items. The bottom end of the back is stamped HAMILL RCF-65.
Hope this helps you in determining the originality of your seat belts. Pete- Top
