    C2 trailing arm paint question

    Members,
Trailing arms came back from the sandblaster and are ready to paint. I have a question regarding the correct painting procedure.

The 1965 TIM & JG is clear that the spindle supports are painted before they are machined. I am wondering if the flat surface of the trailing arm that mates with the spindle support is painted or should the surface be masked and left raw steel? Perhaps the entire trailing arm is painted (without masking) since the flat surface doesn't really look machined.

    Your inputs are appreciated.

The "flat" surface of the trailing arm that mates with the spindle support was unpainted.

      Re: More info please

      Joe,
Thank you for your response and answer to my question. Is the entire "flat" surface unpainted, including the two pointed portions of the 1/4" thick reinforcing plate? I ask because, I'm seen rebuilt trailing arms at places like Carlisle where the area under the spindle support is not painted but there is paint on the flat area outside the support.

      Thanks again,
      Gene

        Gene-----

As originally installed on my 69, the entire flat surface, including the 2 "pointed ends" was unpainted.
