    C2 REAR LOWER SHOCK MOUNT

The raised areas on one of my rear shock mounts that provide the tight fit and keep it from rotating when installed are worn. It requires the tension of the nut to keep it from turning. Should I assume that no matter how much I tighten the large castle nut the mount will eventually swivel and replace the mount?

    Rob------

The shock mount shaft can't rotate in the bearing support since the end of the shaft and the rear hole in the bearing support are "keyed" ("D"-shaped). However, if the knurled area on the inner end of the shaft is too worn, I'd still replace the shaft. Usually, a little wear won't hurt anything, though. Plus, a little wear will make the shaft easier to remove the next time.

Joe......I can swivel the mount quite a bit even after it is fully inserted. I'll check to see how worn the "keyed" end of the mount is, (hopefully the spindle support is not the problem). It swivels enough to distort the lower shock bushings with the weight of the chassis. The other one was very tight and had to be pulled into place with the castle nut. It does not swivel at all after being installed. Thanks for your reply.
