    62 F.I. distributor seal

The side seal (tach drive) on my 62 F.I. distributor is leaking. I'm ready to replace the seal. Does anyone have an easy way to remove the old seal safely without scarring up the housing? Thanks Rich

You can make a good tool out of a long narrow screwdriver with a round shaft. I described this tool in a Restorer article about 8 years ago.

Heat the tip to bend the last 1/4" at a 45 degree angle and grind the edge to seat fully on the seal metal lip. Remove the cross shaft to drive the seal out from the inside. Personally, I can't do this with the distributor in the car. You may be much more skillful than me though.
