I am working on a '67 big block chassis with the front and rear suspension installed. I have the front of the frame on jacks, and decided to let the rear suspension sit on the wheels. I wanted to give the rear suspension a chance to settle more towards normal height, and allow the rubber cushions on the spring and trailing arms to seat properly. I have about 300lbs. of sand over the rear wheels, on the frame crossmembers. It sits about 6" higher than it should. Am I underestimating how much weight is needed to properly compress the rear suspension? {The suspension bolts have been snugged but not tightened, and I have the proper 9 leaf rear spring}.

Re: 67 REAR SUSPENSION HEIGHT
Rob, I have a 67 BB conv. I just put the body back on the restored chassis with the original rear spring with all new liners, cushions, etc. It's still not to ride height because the interior, top, tire tub, etc are not in yet. I wouldn't worry about until you've got everything on the car. I would think that the spring is the only thing back there that could make it wrong.- Top
